Story relating to amputation

I was on my way to town after fetching fire wood when I heard sounds of gun shots from the direction of the village. I thought it was the Economic Community of West African States Monitoring Group (ECOMOG) soldiers doing their usual morning military exercises. I was confident nothing bad was going to happen to me because of the presence of the ECOMOG soldiers. When I entered the village I was shocked beyond words to find out there were no ECOMOG soldiers; the Revolutionary United Front (RUF) rebels and Armed Forces Ruling Council (AFRC) renegade soldiers had taken over the town. I was arrested and amputated along with my daughter Damba Koroma. This was followed by killing and burning of houses.
